For people who wish to gain knowledge and theory in substantial depth, in such areas as program planning, planning and research, and the leadership role of a team leader in the children’s services industry. After successfully completing the Diploma of Children’s Services, your qualification would earn you the classification of a "Qualified Child Care Worker". |
It is the natural next step for those who already hold a Certificate III in Children’s Services, which is the prerequisite to enrolling into the Diploma of Children's Services. With recognition of current competencies and prior learning, trained and experienced workers may well gain substantial credits towards the Diploma of Children’s Services.

There are three ways to gain this qualification - through completing a training program, or undertaking a recognition of recognition of prior learning, or completing theory online. Once you know which of these three options best apply to you, then you can access further information.

The Diploma of Children's Services is available as a government funded traineeship in VIC, to new workers under the User Choice/New Apprenticeships Program.
It is also available as a government funded traineeship to "eligible" existing workers in VIC.
Tuition contribution fees are calculated per nominal enrolled hours to the maximum and minimum fee. Fees are calculated per calendar year of training.
This training can be delivered as a self funded training program to people who hold a Certificate III in Children's Services, and who currently work in the industry. Individuals who are not currently working in children's services will be required to undertake voluntary work in a service either on a weekly basis, or as placement blocks to gain this qualification.
The Diploma of Children's Services can also be gained through a self funded assessment only process.
